About Dover Housing Authority

Since the 1950’s, the Dover Housing Authority has served families, seniors and individuals with disabilities by providing rent subsidies for permanent housing to those qualifying for subsidies due to low household incomes. Each month 877 households are subsidized in our public housing program or the housing choice voucher program.

We consist of neighborhoods of people—children, families, seniors and persons with disabilities --- living together making up a community of residents living along the Cocheco River starting at Whittier Falls in Dover, New Hampshire.

Residents in public housing owned by the Dover Housing Authority live in and enjoy properties we own and manage. Our caring and competent maintenance staff provides prompt attention to our properties to insure the high quality condition we seek to achieve at all our properties. Our friendly and helpful administrative staff answers questions, assists with applications, manages the waiting lists and solves problems each and every day.

At the Dover Housing Authority, our philosophy has been more than simply "brick's and mortar." We have worked diligently to provide our seniors with programs and services that allow them to live independently and avoid premature institutionalization. We have also pursued and funded opportunities for our family residents to become self-sufficient and free from public assistance.

By the year 2030, it is projected that nearly 20 percent of the U.S. population will be 65 years or older - which will undoubtedly place enormous pressure on housing authorities throughout the country. To address this need, we must continue to develop partnerships with organizations that share our goal of allowing seniors to remain in their communities in a non-institutional setting. We must also continue to seek innovative ways to provide affordable housing for needy families, especially in these difficult economic times.

With a strong foundation in place, the Dover Housing Authority will meet these challenges and continue to be in the forefront of our nation's effort to assist our most vulnerable citizens.

By working together, we can make the Dover Housing Authority a better place in which to live, work and visit.
